Puff Away in Louisiana
In late May 2014, the state of Louisiana decided to ban electronic cigarettes sales to people under the age of 18, and we strongly approve of Louisiana’s decision. Until people turn 18, they are considered children so they don’t know any better about the ‘dangers’ of electronic cigarettes. There are great dangers those under 18 must confront. Anyway, we recommend electronic cigarettes to those already smoking traditional cigarettes because e-cigs are a smarter alternative.
Aside from their wise decision to ban e-cigs to minors, Louisiana made another wise decision to allow employers to choose whether or not their employees can vape during working hours. All owners of their respective establishments should be able to decide what they want to do with it. And if all participants within the establishment agree with the owner’s decision, how can there be a problem? There are will be opponents against the state’s decision, and we must ask, “Why?” Everyone is entitled to their personal freedoms and choices. When any of our freedoms come into questions, it should be left up to us to decide. The United States of American was founded on life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. To revoke one’s pursuit of happiness for the benefit of another, is that fair? We certainly do not believe so. Our government needs to back off from controlling our freedom to choose. Every state should follow Louisiana’s decision to allow employers to choose whether or not employees can vape during working hours.
